When Enough Has To Be Enough

Here I sit, 3.5 years after that fateful day in 2016, saying it out loud. . .

STOP
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

After spending a week at an internationally recognized spinal cord facility dedicated to improving the lives of those with developmental disabilities and disorders of the brain, spinal cord and musculoskeletal system, through patient care, special education, research, and professional training, I need to STOP. STOP trying, STOP hoping, just STOP. It’s time for us to figure out how to move on, how to find true joy and real happiness (if possible) in what we (I) am actually able to do.

While our week wasn’t 100% successful, it wasn’t a 100% failure either. Being a #little_person and #paralyzed drastically limits resources and therapeutic exercise equipment available. My lack of reach prohibits my ability to do many many things that a paralyzed average height person in a #wheelchair can do. We did learn a few tips regarding stretches and different positions that may help ease the muscle pain I experience in my left upper thigh and a few other helpful hints.

In order for ME to try to learn how to be truly happy again, I can not continuously be reminded of what I can not do, what equipment doesn’t work for me, what clothes I can no longer wear, places I can no longer access, activities I can no longer enjoy & participate in, etc.

Even equipment designed, developed and created to enable paralyzed people to have a sense of independence as most are for average height people/

It’s time for me and my honey to figure out OUR journey together, what it is, how do we get ourselves back to where we were when we were excited about visiting new places, experiencing new adventures and loving doing it together.

As always, I wish you days filled with WONDER – take a minute to WONDER what it is that made you smile today! 😊

Sweet friend, your in my thoughts and prayers
This life is a journey , and for many a very difficult one at best! Living in this country we have so many more options than most, and I’m thankful for that.
Keep seeking out the joy in every day

I’m so thankful that you have Kurt to do your journey with you !

Thank you, I’m hopeful that this 2nd half of our journey together with be as fabulous as our first, before #Living_This_Paralyzed_Life became our life. If we continue to meet wonderful like you then we will continue to be blessed 🙂

I was hoping the company could adjust their design to fit your stature. Do you think the Shriners hospital therapy groups could recommend a place that has equipment for people of your stature? Sorry but I just always try to find answers for you and your cousin. I hope you and Kurt can enjoy this summer at your lake house more. I bet you both will . Hugs your cousin
